      How To Create Sophisticated Summer Hamptons Garden Style

      If you fell in love with Diane Keaton's character's home in the Hamptons in Something's Gotta Give you might be surprised to know the stylish interior was completely constructed on-set - but here is how you can create that look for your own Hampton's style product launch, store opening, or corporate party.

      Choose a Hamptons-style venue
      Your first choice for hosting your corporate event would be a Hamptons-style venue beside the sea or with sea views such as Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel in Watson's Bay, Sydney or The Boathouse Shelley Beach, Sydney and Cerberus Beachhouse in Half Moon Bay, Melbourne.

      To evoke the Hamptons style, hiring a venue with high ceilings and fans, lime-washed weatherboard walls, wooden floorboards and white wooden double-hung windows will make your job easier.

      Hamptons style basics
      Whether you're creating a Hamptons garden party or an oceanside product launch, your decorations need to feature neutrals, natural fabrics and materials, interesting objet d'art, comfortable seating, and airiness. In short, laidback beach luxe.

      Think whites, understated soft blues, plus an accent navy colour for contrast, and to evoke the Long Island Atlantic sea.

      Serve guests their drinks - Long Island Iced Tea, if you dare - from a stylish white pressed metal bar.

      Dining chairs call for dark Bentwood or white Bentwood chairs while a wicker peacock chair can make a statement, as can rattan armchairs or white Adirondack chairs for comfort.

      Hire a white wooden candy cart to display differing height and shape vases of gleaming glass and silver containing white orchids, blue hydrangeas and cream roses - or as an actual candy cart!

      Provide your guests with white canvas market umbrellas outside on the lawn,  even if it's night-time to evoke pleasant summer days by the sea. 


      Hamptons style decorations
      Being by the sea, ocean-related decor is a must.

      Possible props include rowing boats, oars, fishing nets, lighthouse candleholders and ship in a glass bottle model.

      However, surfboards - unless they're vintage wooden longboards - take your look too far down the other end of the beach decorating spectrum!

      The Hamptons is a moneyed place. The people who live here collect beautiful objet d'art, not all of it necessarily practical, but always beautiful. Blue and white Chinoiserie vases are ideal.

      Place a large white wooden birdcage on your welcome table or perhaps on a large, deep shelf to draw their eye to some of your products.
