9 Geelong & the Bellarine Peninsula Winery Venues For 100 Guests or More

October 07, 2023

If you're based in nearby Melbourne or actually in Geelong itself, you may be seeking a venue that can cater for 100 guests or more for your next event.

Here's 9 wineries in and around Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula with capacity for 100-500 guests, some with accommodation.

Oakdene
Approximately 20km east of Geelong, and 3km from Ocean Grove is this 230-acre, family-owned vineyard which offers a number of options for your special event, including beautiful gardens, a rustic train shed, a 1920s homestead and its vineyards. Oakdene also includes three themed bed-and-breakfast rooms above the Manor Suite Wine Bar (pictured). Maximum capacity: 120 guests (seated).

Clyde Park
Thirty kilometres north of Geelong is Clyde Park. Dating back to the 1880s, the name originates from its founders who lived near the lowlands of Scotland, near the Clyde River. Perhaps the rolling green lands reminded them of home but this is a thoroughly modern venue, no tartan in sight! It uses its Barrel Room, Upper and Lower Tasting rooms exclusively for wedding receptions and has recently added a marquee. Maximum capacity: 250 seated, 400 guests for cocktails.

Leura Park Estate
Founded in 1995, Leura Park Estate is 17km from the Geelong waterfront. It offers three very different venue spaces for your event, from the brick-paved rustic cellar door with quirky furnishings, to the grassy alfresco area to the strikingly modern, soaring glass floor-to-ceiling space of The Vault. Maximum capacity: 100 seated, 200 guests for cocktails.

Jack Rabbit Vineyard
Boasting unrivalled panoramic views across Port Philip Bay, Jack Rabbit Vineyard is 26km from Geelong and one of the few winery venues to offer both beach and vineyard vistas. The contemporary French provincial-styled Jack Rabbit restaurant is very well regarded by locals so expect an extremely high RSVP rate for your event. The venue also offers a smaller space, House of Jack Rabbit (pictured), which has an industrial chic theme for more intimate guest numbers. Maximum capacity: 120 seated, 200 guests for cocktails.

Terindah Estate

Adjacent to Jack Rabbit, Terindah Estate (pictured) boasts a contemporary wine bar, The Deck, which wraps around the cellar door and events space, making it a perfect pre-dinner drinks area. The cellar door features a roaring fireplace for cooler nights, while a genuine Melbourne tram has been revitalised into Peter's Odyssey Tram, a fun space for up to 20 "passengers", making it an instant Instagram hit. There's an accommodation option for glamping, too. And Terindah Estate boasts a heli-pad for those who really want to make an entrance - or beat the traffic. Maximum capacity 180 seated, 200 guests for cocktails.

Scotchmans Hill

An easy 27km east from Geelong waterfront, Scotchmans Hill (pictured) is the Bellarine Peninsula's oldest and largest winery at 120 acres. It has a renovated French provincial farmhouse style homestead with cathedral ceilings, rustic red brick floor and French doors opening out onto pretty gardens, and manicured lawns tumbling down to ocean views. You'll feel as if you've been transported to France. Maximum capacity: 100 seated, 120 guests for cocktails.

Austin's Wines
Twenty-one kilometres north-west of Geelong, the sprawling 1,500-acre property offers you the closest venue option to a warehouse theme on a vineyard with its cellar door - a renovated sheep shearing shed - lined in gleaming corrugated iron. Its black metal exposed ceiling trusses give you plenty of options to suspend festoon lighting. Outside, just metres from the vineyards, is the outdoor seating area. Maximum capacity: 80 seated (cellar door or 120 outside), 120 guests for cocktails.

Provenance Wines

Did you know there's a winery only 7km from Geelong waterfront and just off the Geelong bypass? Provenance Wines's unique venue space is the old Fyansford Paper Mill on the banks of the Barwon River. The heritage-listed 1870s venue (pictured) has a stunning Oregon-lined cathedral ceiling, rustic white-washed bluestone walls lined with barrels and beautiful soft greenery throughout. Maximum capacity: 180 seated, 250 guests for cocktails.

Mt Duneed Estate

If you've ever attended a concert here, you'll know how large the winery is. Not only can it cater for the largest events in the Geelong & the Bellarine Peninsula, it also has four function spaces within its property. The Barrel Hall can cater for up to 500 guests (seated or cocktail), the outdoor Garden Bar can accommodate 450 cocktail guests, and the Vineyard Room suits up to 100 seated guests or up to 150 for cocktails while the outdoor Olive Grove is ideal for 150 seated guests or 200 cocktail-style. Mt Duneed Estate also offers eight king-size guest accommodation suites.
